Pela-what-chie Bay?
Pelahatchie creek flows from Pelahatchie, ms, past the Pelahatchie Bay Trading Post (The best breakfast, coffee, liars club, bait shop, boat landing, gas station, general store anywhere), into Pelahatchie Bay, then into the Pearl River in the middle of the Ross Barnett Reservoir. That enough pelahatchie for ya? The trading post has been a famous launching point for some of the best fishing around for years and years. Bass, Crappie, Bream, and Catfish are hauled out of here regularly, and the catch is often worth photographing and putting on the wall in the store. The cast of characters that parades through here every day(usually before 7a.m.) makes the place worth visiting. Politics?-check. Religion?-check. Sports?-check. Weather?-Of course! And don't come in here with some moderate pansy opinions, you'll get thrown out. Better bring your A-game if you want in on some of this conversation. At the check-out counter you'll almost always be treated to some pearls of wisdom from Brother Roy, the proprietor of this here establishment. This is one of the only places I've ever been where blacks, whites, bikers, and church-goers regularly sit together and eat and talk(and drink coffee). If you're ever in the neighborhood, come by for a cup, and you'll see what I mean, and hopefully get hooked like me.
